Her legal reasoning, attention to detail, and adherence to judicial ethics contributed significantly to strengthening public confidence in the justice system.

Her appointment to the Court of Appeal represents not only a personal achievement but also a major source of pride for Plateau State and the legal community. The Court of Appeal occupies a critical position within Nigeria’s judicial hierarchy, serving as the intermediate appellate court that reviews decisions from lower courts and ensures the proper interpretation and application of the law.

Legal practitioners have noted that Justice Dadom’s wealth of experience and sound judicial temperament will further enrich the appellate court and contribute to the continued development of Nigerian jurisprudence. Many observers believe that her elevation comes at a time when the judiciary requires experienced and principled jurists capable of upholding justice and safeguarding democratic values.

Tributes have continued to pour in from various quarters, with many describing Justice Dadom as a role model for young lawyers and aspiring judicial officers. Her journey through the legal profession is seen as an inspiring example of hard work, perseverance, excellence, and dedication to public service.

The elevation also underscores the increasing recognition of the important role women continue to play in the Nigerian judiciary. Over the years, female judicial officers have made remarkable contributions to the growth of the nation’s legal system, and Justice Dadom’s appointment further strengthens that legacy.

As she assumes her new responsibilities at the Court of Appeal, expectations remain high that Justice Veronica Julcit Dadom will bring the same level of integrity, wisdom, and commitment that have characterized her judicial career. Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, questioning the deployment of security personnel in relation to Omoyele Sowore while communities continue to face attacks from bandits and terrorists.

In a statement posted on his social media page, Ibe lamented the killing of at least 18 residents in Kawel village, Mushere district of Bokkos LGA of Plateau state.

He said several other residents sustained injuries during the late-night attack. According to Ibe, there has been little official response to the incident since it occurred.

“Following Sunday, no less than 18 innocent citizens were killed and several others injured following a late-night attack on Kawel village in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State,” he said.

“Ever since, mum has been the word. No arrests. No response. No empathy. They’ve carried on as if human lives have no value in our land,” he added.

Ibe contrasted the government’s response to the attack with the deployment of security personnel in connection with Sowore.

“And today, they’re deploying security forces because their favourite customer, Omoyele Sowore must be confined to Kuje Prison for daring to speak truth to power,” he said.

Ibe questioned why security resources were not being directed towards areas affected by terrorism and banditry.

“We major in minors while insecurity rules the land. Why can’t these security forces be deployed to vulnerable parts of the country where citizens are at the mercy of terrorists and bandits instead of using security personnel meant to protect Nigerians to intimidate them?” he asked.

A recreational football competition organised at the weekend by the High Commission of Canada in Abuja has been praised for providing diplomats from various countries with opportunities for togetherness, closeness and enjoyment.

Sports247 reports that the accolades came from the honorary consul of Colombia to Nigeria, Mrs Maricel Cantillo, who noted that the diplomats’ football competition provided values of sportsmanship and unity that are provided at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Cantillo noted that the competition in Abuja symbolised the World Cup, which Canada is co-hosting alongside United States of America and Mexico, in what becomes the first time three countries will stage the Mundial together.

She added that her country was happy to be part of the event that provided an opportunity for diplomats, families, friends, journalists and participating teams to celebrate the unifying power of football in a recreational manner.

The honorary consul also praised the organisers for promoting gender equality and inclusion through the mandatory participation of female players in every team, which she said made the event much more exciting and commendable.

“I would like to highlight the fact that every team had two female players, and you were not allowed to swap a female player for a male. That sets a strong motion towards making sure that we have slots secured for women at all levels.

“It also allowed us to enjoy and celebrate the beauty of football, which is a fantastic sport that brings us together. The matches were fantastic, the teams showed great energy, and there were no issues. It was a very exciting day.

“It is an opportunity for togetherness, closeness, enjoyment and to continue promoting the beauty of football. Everybody played on a very positive note, bringing out the beauty of teams, communities and friends that we all are,” Cantillo submitted.
