Supporters of Senator I. D. Gyang have called for a review of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election results in Plateau North, alleging irregularities in the conduct of the exercise.

In a statement issued by the Director General of the I. D. Gyang Campaign Council, Comrade Lot Adas, the group expressed concern over what it described as a lack of transparency in the primary process.

The statement claimed that the outcome of the exercise did not reflect the wishes of party members, insisting that credible internal democracy must be upheld to preserve trust within the APC.

According to the group, party strength is rooted in grassroots participation, warning that any process that sidelines members’ votes could weaken unity and confidence in the party structure.

It further alleged that the Plateau North senatorial primary was not conducted in a manner consistent with due process, describing the results as unacceptable to many stakeholders within the constituency.

The supporters urged the APC leadership to ensure fairness and justice by reviewing the conduct and outcome of the primaries in line with party guidelines and democratic principles.

They also referenced ongoing considerations by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), expressing hope that the leadership would take corrective action after reviewing reports from relevant committees.

While calling for a review, the group appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm and peaceful, stressing that their demand is rooted in fairness, equity, and respect for internal democracy.

The statement reaffirmed commitment to the unity and progress of the APC in Plateau North, while insisting that only a credible and transparent process can strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

Signed:
Comrade Lot Adas
Director General, I. D. Gyang Campaign Council

MTN ADVERT

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its gantry price for aviation turbine kerosene (ATK), commonly known as jet fuel, to N1,450 per litre.

A source at the refinery confirmed the development on Friday, saying the price was reduced from N1,550 per litre to N1,450 per litre.

According to the source, the adjustment took effect on Tuesday.

The latest reduction comes less than two weeks after the refinery lowered the ex-depot price of premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, by N75 per litre.

In a circular to oil marketers, the refinery said the petrol price adjustment, which took effect on 16 June, followed developments in the international energy market.

PETROAN calls for price review

Following the decline in global crude oil prices, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) called on refiners, depot owners and fuel importers to reflect the changes in their ex-depot and retail prices.

The association said lower crude oil prices provide an opportunity for operators in the downstream petroleum sector to reduce prices and provide relief for consumers.

Jet fuel remains one of the major operating costs for airlines, making changes in its price closely watched by operators in the aviation sector.

Director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, Sam Amadi, has said that attacks against presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Peter Obi, have failed to diminish his popularity because there are no credible allegations of corruption or scandal against him.

Amadi made the remarks in a post on X on Saturday while reacting to a debate sparked by comments from actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, regarding Obi and his supporters.

An X user, @RealQueenBee, had referenced recent remarks by Okonkwo where he threatened to release information that could damage Obi’s political career if supporters of the former presidential candidate continued to attack him online.

Reacting to the post, Amadi said Obi’s political appeal remains intact because critics have not presented factual evidence capable of damaging his reputation.

He wrote: “Attacks against @PeterObi dont stick much because he has little or nothing that is scandalous or corrupt. All the other presidential candidates today cannot boast of that record.

“His political popularity is not damaged because his traducers are merely expressing elitist derision and not bombing him with any factual revelation

“He is still the best available on presidential slate today.”

Amadi argued that most attacks against the former Anambra State governor amount to elitist criticism rather than revelations of wrongdoing.

He further stated that Obi’s record in public service has helped shield him from political attacks, adding that other presidential contenders cannot claim a similar level of freedom from allegations of corruption.

Amadi also maintained that Obi remains the strongest option among the current crop of presidential hopefuls, insisting that his popularity continues to endure despite sustained criticism from opponents.
