President Bola Tinubu on Thursday hosted President Idriss Déby of Chad at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The brief high-level meeting underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen cooperation on regional security, trade, and economic development.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, operating in Plateau State, have successfully rescued a pastor and his wife from a kidnappers’ den in Faggem village of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Task Force, Captain Polycarp Oteh, the pastor and his wife along with other victims were abducted on Friday, June 5th, 2026, but following a swift response by the troops, they were rescued from captivity though the victims sustained some injuries while in captivity.

“Troops of Sector 5 operating in Bokkos, recorded another victory against criminality in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State,” Captain Oteh said in the statement.

“Responding to an urgent distress call from Faggem Village on June 5, 2026, troops swiftly mobilised and foiled an ongoing abduction attempt, as the operational pressure forced the criminals to abandon their targets and flee into a nearby forest.

“The chase led troops to successfully rescue a Pastor and his wife from the clutches of the kidnappers.

“The couple, who sustained injuries during the initial assault by the criminals, were promptly evacuated by the troops to Bokkos medical clinic for treatment, while also initiating a manhunt to track down the fleeing suspects,” the OPEP spokesman said.

He added that during a search of the hideout, troops recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition at the scene and immediately plunged into the adjoining forest on a rescue mission.

He assured the general public that the troops would not relent in their ongoing efforts and decisive operations to rid the highways and communities of criminal elements.
