Plateau State Insecurity Prompts Change of NYSC Orientation Camp Venue

In response to the prevailing insecurity in Plateau State, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a change in the venue for the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Camp. The decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of prospective corps members amidst the challenging security situation in the region.

The NYSC made an official statement today, through the Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, notifying the public, particularly prospective corps members, about the alteration in the camp location. The Permanent Orientation Camp in Mangu, initially designated as the venue, has been relocated to the Waye Foundation, situated by Buken Academy in Dio-Du, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Waye Foundation will serve as a temporary NYSC Orientation Camp until further notice.

All prospective corps members are advised to take note of this important update and report to the new Orientation Camp, Waye Foundation by Buken Academy, on the dates specified in their call-up letters. By adhering to these instructions, corps members can ensure a smooth transition and initiation into the NYSC program.

The decision to change the venue was made with the safety and security of the corps members in mind. The NYSC is committed to providing a secure environment for young graduates who are partaking in the national service. By relocating the Orientation Camp to a more secure location, the NYSC aims to mitigate potential risks and safeguard the well-being of the corps members.

Plateau State has faced significant security challenges in recent times, especially in Mangu and Barrakin Ladi respectively making it necessary for the NYSC to take proactive measures to protect the participants. The Waye Foundation, with its strategic location, offers improved security arrangements that align with the NYSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety of corps members throughout their orientation period.

The NYSC encourages all prospective corps members to comply with the directive and make the necessary arrangements to report to the new camp location as specified in their call-up letters. Any further updates regarding the Orientation Camp and related activities will be communicated through official channels, and corps members are advised to stay updated.

The NYSC remains dedicated to the welfare of corps members and will continue to prioritize their safety and security in all its operations. The decision to relocate the Orientation Camp demonstrates the organization’s commitment to adapting to the prevailing circumstances and providing a conducive environment for corps members to fulfill their national service obligations.

Prospective corps members are urged to stay vigilant, adhere to security guidelines, and cooperate with NYSC officials to ensure a successful and secure orientation experience.
