Entrepreneur and social figure Aisha Achimugu has refuted reports claiming that $13 million was seized from her home, maintaining that only $50,000 and N13 million were discovered during a search of her property.

She addressed the issue on Monday during an appearance on Politics Today, a show aired on Channels Television. According to her, the widely reported figure of $13 million is incorrect and creates a false impression.

It can be recalled that the EFCC had previously listed Achimugu as wanted. The agency alleged her involvement in a case related to criminal collaboration and financial misconduct.

As part of its investigation, the EFCC reportedly conducted a raid on her residence, after which varying accounts surfaced about the amount of money recovered. Achimugu, however, declined to go into specifics regarding the alleged $13 million, explaining that the issue is already before the court.

She also expressed doubt about the source of the claim, emphasizing that she does not keep such large amounts of cash at home.

In her words: “First, I will not go deeply into the issue of $13 million. As you are aware, it is already a matter before the court, and it would be inappropriate for me to comment on it. I have confidence in Nigeria’s judicial process and trust that a fair judgment will be delivered in due course.

“However, I must correct the narrative that $13 million was found in my residence. Yes, my home was searched, but only $50,000 and N13 million, which belongs to my mother, was recovered, along with my personal items.

“I am unsure how the public came to believe that I had $13 million in my house. I am not a financial institution, so I would not store such an amount at home. I have children studying overseas, so it is necessary to keep some foreign currency available for emergencies.”

The Federal Government has introduced a new compensation structure aimed at improving welfare and strengthening workplace protection across the Federal Civil Service. The policy covers civil servants who suffer work-related injuries, occupational diseases, disabilities, or death in the line of duty.

This was disclosed on Thursday in a statement signed by Eno Olotu, Director of Press at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, announced the development at the inauguration of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) Help Desk in Abuja, describing it as a key welfare intervention for public servants.

She said the scheme has now been fully operationalised to ensure prompt compensation and support for workers affected by occupational hazards.

“The Employees’ Compensation Scheme is a crucial intervention to provide prompt compensation and support for Civil Servants affected by work-related diseases, injuries, disabilities, or death,” Walson-Jack stated.

She explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen employee protection and complement existing welfare programmes such as the Group Life Assurance Scheme, which also supports workers and their families in cases of death or disability.

According to her, the move reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity, safety, and welfare of public servants.

“The initiative reflects the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being and dignity of Public Servants,” she added.

As part of the implementation framework, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure smooth execution of the scheme.

The Managing Director of NSITF, Oluwaseyi Faleye, described the initiative as an important step toward building a structured and transparent compensation system for federal workers.

Faleye said, “The ECS is a major step toward institutionalising structured care and protection for Civil Servants, supported by a transparent, payroll-driven system.”

He further noted that the newly launched ECS Help Desk would serve as a dedicated platform for information sharing, claims processing support, and feedback management.

“To improve service delivery, the ECS Help Desk will offer information, claims support, and a feedback platform,” he added.

The Federal Government said the initiative represents a significant milestone in strengthening workforce protection and promoting a more responsive, efficient, and welfare-driven public service.

Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has petitioned Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, over what it described as repeated incidents of attacks on herders and alleged poisoning in local communities especially in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas.

The petition, dated April 23, 2026, and signed by the state chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, stated that the association was compelled to write the petition due to a growing threat to the safety and livelihoods of Fulani herders in the communities.

The petition made available to DAILY POST on Monday titled “Urgent Complaint on Repeated Killing of Herders and Cattle,” MACBAN pointed to incidents which it said occurred between April 18, 20, 22, and 23, 2026, across different communities in Barkin Ladi, which it said suggested a troubling pattern of deliberate attacks on herders and their livestock.

The association said on April 18th, 10 cows were allegedly poisoned in Rakung Village while another cow was reportedly killed in the same village on April 20. It also claimed that nine cattle were poisoned at the Lokojora area on April 22, while an unspecified number was also poisoned along the Nding axis on April 22 and 23.

“These deliberate poisoning and killing of Fulani herders’ cattle have had economic implications for our members and have raised concerns about their broader impact on livelihoods, food security, and community relations,” the petition said.

Babayo regretted that despite the killing of their cattle and reports made to security agencies, no arrests had been made in connection with the reported incidents.

“We call on security agencies to investigate the matter, prevent further occurrences, and ensure those responsible are identified. We also appealed to the state government to consider providing support to the affected herders.

“While we urge a thorough investigation, we have appealed to our members to remain calm and law-abiding to mitigate tensions which could affect ongoing peace efforts in the state,” the petition concluded.
