Chairman and Technical Director of Chosen Generation Angels FC and Chairman of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Ogun State chapter Victor Agbagu Damilola, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship in Calabar.

Chosen Generation Angels have been drawn in a highly competitive Group D alongside Imo Striker Queens, Kwara Ladies FC, and Ghetto Tigers FC, with only one team progressing to the promotion playoffs.

Speaking exclusively with Sports247, the club boss insisted that his side is well-prepared to compete favourably and challenge for promotion to the NWFL Premiership.

“Chosen Generation Angels FC is really prepared to compete favourably in this group and in the tournament. The young players of last year are developing fast, and that will be evident in the way we play as a team,” he said.

The experienced football administrator revealed that his expectations are high, particularly regarding the team’s playing style and tactical approach.

“My expectations are high in terms of our playing style and tactics that will be adopted for each game. The girls are looking forward to having a good time at the championship, and I believe the opposition will bring out the best in the team.”

According to Agbagu, the club’s recruitment and development structures, coupled with the players’ winning mentality, will be key factors in their pursuit of promotion.

“Our recruitment and development plans are top-notch. The winning mentality of the girls will push them above the line for promotion. Motivation is another aspect that will ensure the players compete well.”

Beyond chasing results on the pitch, Chosen Generation Angels have built a reputation for developing female talents holistically. The club places equal emphasis on football development, education, and vocational training.

“We emphasize all-round development in technical, tactical, physical, and psycho-social aspects of the game. We also understand the importance of empowering the girl-child through quality education and vocational skills that can support them after football.”

The Chairman also called on supporters and stakeholders to continue believing in the team.

“My message is simple: continue praying for our success, continue supporting and watering these dreams, and we shall not disappoint you.”

He further explained that promotion to the NWFL Premiership would be transformational for both the club and the rural community of Wasimi.

“A team from a rural community earning promotion will positively change our story in terms of sponsorships and partnerships. It will uplift the club, the players, coaches, and management, while showing the community the power of sports and how the girl-child can be used to achieve development objectives.”

As the championship kicks off in Calabar, Chosen Generation Angels will be aiming to turn their ambitions into reality and write another remarkable chapter in their inspiring journey from grassroots football to the national stage.

The Senior Political Assistant to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, on Tuesday said the momentum of the opposition would die if the former vice president stepped down from the presidential race ahead of 2027.

Olarewaju insisted that Atiku is the only candidate showing the capacity to match President Bola Tinubu locally and internationally.

Posting on X, he wrote: “Atiku steps down now and opposition momentum dies totally – an election with the incumbent as contestant is a different ballgame from a transition election.

“2027 is beyond Atiku. Atiku himself is the bridge for us to build and hold an opposition core, post-2027.

“Atiku is the only candidate showing capacity to match Bola Tinubu locally and internationally in 2027.

“Every election is unique and different and everyone should get ready.

“2023 went the way it did because Buhari wasn’t too invested in Tinubu’s victory, that’s why APC lost Lagos and communal rigging was allowed in many states.”

The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, August 17, 2026 recovered 2.3 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, valued at N4.485 billion from Mamemo Ibru of Ibafon Oil and Gas, during an investigation into an alleged case of stealing and criminal conversion.

The recovery followed a petition submitted by Prudent Energy and Services Limited, alleging that petroleum products entrusted to Ibafon Oil and Gas for storage had been unlawfully converted, resulting in a significant shortfall in the company’s stock.

The petitioner also alleged that periodic withdrawals were made from the stored products until the outstanding balance stood at 2,574,031 litres.

However, during a subsequent physical measurement and reconciliation exercise, only 206,761 litres remained in the storage tanks, leaving a deficit of 2,367,270 litres.

Investigation revealed that Ibafon Oil and Gas is involved in the purchase and sale of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and also stores its petroleum products at the same depot alongside products belonging to its customers.

It was further revealed that Ibru allegedly used his position as the owner of Ibafon Oil and Gas to truck out petroleum products in excess of the quantity owned by the company, thereby converting the petitioner’s products for his own use.

Following the Commission’s intervention, the suspect handed over the recovered products to the petitioner, Prudent Energy and Services Limited.
