Governor Mutfwang approves free transportation for Plateau citizens aged 70, above

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has approved free transportation for citizens aged 70 and above who have served the nation meritoriously. The announcement was made during an interview with journalists on Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, emphasizing the importance of supporting veterans in their old age.

“We must find a way to look after them in their old age. This Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to honor those who have passed, those who left families behind, and those who are battling life’s challenges in retirement,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of retired military personnel. In line with this, he disclosed that the newly approved transportation relief would benefit senior citizens aged 70 and above, particularly those who had served the country. He also noted that the government is exploring additional ways to support veterans and alleviate their struggles.

Governor Mutfwang highlighted the vital role of the Armed Forces in modern society, particularly in addressing conflict and insecurity. He acknowledged the sacrifices of service members who continue to protect the nation both internally and externally.

Saluting the bravery of the men and women in uniform, Mutfwang underscored the importance of remembering those who have served the country, whether they are still alive or have passed on.

“We must pay respect to those who have served this nation meritoriously,” Mutfwang concluded.
