Plateau stakeholders consisting of youth groups, women groups, community leaders, religious groups, business associations, and NGOs held a closed-door session with the representatives of the Plateau State Government on Monday 1st August 2022 at the banquet hall of New Government House Little Rayfield Jos.
The convener of the meeting Rev Fr Polycarp Lubo, who is the current CAN Chairman Plateau State Chapter spoke to journalists shortly after the meeting was held and said that they have advised the Government to put the deal on hold until proper consultations are done.
He said this is a unanimous decision by the whole house and he is confident that the Government will listen to the voice of the people and do the needful.
He also said that the major fear was JAIZ Bank being an Islamic bank and then coming to make such a huge investment in a Christian state seems like mortgaging the lives and properties of plateau citizens for 40years. this is why we advised the Government to sit and redress the proposed deal and also work with the people towards addressing the concern and fears of the citizens before coming back to discuss.
