8 killed in Plateau community Sunday night attack

Again, armed men, Sunday night, invaded the Danda Chugwi community, Vwang district of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing seven people on the spot and injuring two others including a four-month-old baby, whose hand was amputated.

The injured were taken to the hospital where one of them later died, bringing the death toll to eight.

National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident said: “Seven people have been confirmed dead at Danda Chugwi community following an attack by militias. The attack happened on Sunday, 31/07/2022 around 9:00 pm.

“The victims are members of two different families and they include Pam Gyang Dawho, 59; Nvou Pam Gyang, 43; Jah Dung Pam, 50; Ruth Gyang Bot, 16; Chundung Pam Gyang, nine years; Mercy James Gyang,12 and Benjamin Pam Gyang, five years.

The two injured are a 40-year-old woman who sustained a gunshot wound and a five-month-old baby boy whose right hand was amputated by the attackers.

He said those who sustained serious gun injuries were taken to Vom Christian Hospital for immediate medical attention.”

Speaking during a visit to Vom Christian Hospital where two of the injured persons were receiving treatment, member House of Representatives, Musa Bagos, called on his constituents to be more vigilant about criminal activities in their areas.He paid the medical bills of those that were injured.

A mass burial was reportedly held for the victims yesterday.

Meanwhile, Plateau Police Command spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the attack, said seven people were killed and two were injured in the attack.

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has questioned what the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will do differently from what President Bola Tinubu will do for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Uyo on Friday, Oshiomhole asked if Obi would cancel the South-South Development Commission.

He said the commission was created by President Bola Tinubu to bring development to the South-South, adding that it is for Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo States

According to him, Tinubu did not just create the commission on paper but also funded it, adding that thousands of children from poor homes in Akwa Ibom are in university because of the student loan.

"When Peter Obi comes, ask him, will you cancel the South-South Development Commission? Ask him, will you keep it or will you cancel it? If he says he will cancel it, you will know he came to deceive you.

"Ask him, will you bring back multiple exchange rates where only the connected get dollars cheap? If Peter Obi could not fix Anambra State in eight years, how can he look you korokoro in the eye and say he will do it in four years? He just wants turn-by-turn democracy,” Oshiomhole claimed.

Oshoala Scores as Al Hilal Cruise to 4-0 Away Victory Over NEOM

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala was on target as Al Hilal produced an impressive 4-0 away victory over NEOM, with fellow Nigerian international Christy Ucheibe also featuring in the convincing performance.

Sports247 reports that Oshoala continued her contribution to Al Hilal’s attacking campaign by finding the back of the net in the 65th minute, helping the visitors strengthen their advantage in a dominant display.

The Nigerian forward’s goal came during an impressive second-half performance from Al Hilal, who added three goals after the interval to complete a comprehensive victory.

Moroccan forward Ibtissam Jraidi opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving Al Hilal an early advantage before the teams went into the break.

Oshoala doubled the visitors’ lead in the 65th minute before Manar Al-Anzi made it 3-0 just four minutes later.

Jraidi then completed her brace in the 88th minute, sealing the emphatic 4-0 result for Al Hilal.

Christy Ucheibe, Oshoala’s Super Falcons teammate, also played a part in the victory as the Nigerian duo continued to make their contributions to the Saudi Arabian club.

The result represents another important outing for Al Hilal, with the team’s attacking quality evident in the performance against NEOM.
