In a momentous event held on Saturday, Governor Simon Bako Lalong launched the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, marking a significant step forward in the education sector in Plateau State. The initiative aims to uplift adolescent girls in public schools by providing them with educational opportunities and empowering them for a brighter future.
Speaking at the official launch, Governor Lalong expressed his delight and congratulated the adolescent girls across the state. He acknowledged that the AGILE Project fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the administration and the people of Plateau State, who have always placed great importance on knowledge and learning.
The AGILE Project is part of the government’s commitment to improving the education sector and ensuring that every young girl in Plateau State has equal access to quality education and opportunities for personal growth. By empowering these girls, the initiative seeks to create a positive impact on their lives and contribute to the overall development of the state.
Governor Lalong emphasized the need to prioritize the collective well-being of the citizens and the state, urging everyone to move beyond election-related differences and work together for the progress and prosperity of Plateau State. Recognizing the uniqueness and diversity of the state, he emphasized the importance of considering the greater good when formulating policies and making decisions.
Reflecting on the outgoing administration’s achievements, Governor Lalong expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of their tenure and the peaceful elections that ushered in a new administration. He highlighted the administration’s efforts in carrying forward inherited projects and initiating new ones, emphasizing the transformation of governance from a personal pursuit to a people-centric endeavor.
The outgoing administration also prioritized administrative reforms, enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and transparency of the civil service. By embracing technology, the government enabled the civil service to respond more effectively to the needs and demands of the citizens.
Governor Lalong acknowledged the challenges faced in maintaining peace and security, particularly in dealing with criminal activities and preventing ethno-religious conflicts. He expressed hope that the incoming administration, led by Governor-elect Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, would continue to address these challenges and take Plateau State to greater heights.
In his closing remarks, Governor Lalong expressed his gratitude to the people of Plateau State for their support over the past eight years. He recognized that it is impossible to accomplish everything or please everyone but assured them that any shortcomings were not due to ill intentions. He thanked all those who worked with him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for providing the platform for service.
As Governor Lalong prepares to hand over the reins of leadership, he reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, progress, and stability of Plateau State, wherever his future endeavors may take him.
Plateau State remains poised for greatness, and with the launch of the AGILE Project and the incoming administration’s commitment, the state is set to embark on a journey towards inclusive development, improved education, and empowerment of its youth.
