The member representing Jos North/East federal constituency of Plateau State, Dachung Musa Bagos, has said any vote for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is a vote for the All Progressive Congress flag-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Bagos stated this during an interview with newsmen while reacting to the internal crisis rocking the PDP.

According to him, any vote for the former Anambra State governor is a vote for the APC because Obi’s votes will reduce the PDP votes in the South-South and South East and automatically give the APC an upper hand.

The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-corruption added that the ruling APC will still want to maintain its sites in some of those strongholds they have, hence, reducing the chances of the PDP.

He said, “Yes, very well, because when the electioneering campaign starts, most of these issues will be resolved. If you remember very well, the Labour Party issue became serious within this region when the All Progressives Congress (APC) brought out the Muslim-Muslim presidential candidature. We have a Muslim as the presidential candidate and a strong Christian as the vice presidential candidate, so they will understand.”

“The PDP has given the electorate the option they are looking for. It should be understood that any vote for Peter Obi of the Labour Party is a vote for the APC. This is because Peter Obi’s votes will reduce that of the PDP in the South-South and South East and it will automatically give the APC an upper hand because it will still want to maintain its sites in some of those strongholds they have. So, when we start the campaigns, most of these issues would be resolved and a lot of youths in the ‘Obidient’ campaign will see reasons that we should give the PDP a chance.

“By the way, how many members of the National Assembly will go with the Labour Party as it is? Would you want to have a president that will always have a hit back from the National Assembly that makes the majority from another political party? These are some of the issues that we will all resolve during our campaigns. We will maintain our strongholds in the 2023 elections.”

Human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has described as horrific the midnight attack on Ngbra-Zongo village in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State that left 12 people dead.

The organisation, in a statement, decried how “Entire families were locked up in rooms of their homes and slaughtered one by one.”

It stated, “Plateau State is increasingly becoming unsafe, with attacks on both rural and urban communities forcing people to live in constant fear of the next attack. Many communities are dotted with mass graves of people killed inside their homes.”

It also berated President Bola Tinubu’s government for failure to tackle widespread killings in Plateau State and other states in the country.

The organisation stated, “The utter failure of President Bola Tinubu’s government to address widespread insecurity is costing lives. While the government of Tinubu is claiming to be tackling the endemic security crisis, the death toll tells a different story.

“The Nigerian authorities have failed the people of Plateau State again and again. Frequent attacks by gunmen have deprived thousands of people of their rights to life, physical integrity, liberty, freedom of movement and access to livelihoods.”

Plateau State has experienced constant attacks by bandits. On Palm Sunday this year, many lost their lives to attacks in Anguwan Rukuba community.

Mr Tinubu visited the state on a condolence visit but met with the grieving families at the Jos airport, promising the state adequate security.

Presidential spokespersons, Bayo Onanuga and Daniel Bwala, had yet to respond to a request for comments on Amnesty International’s criticism of the Bola Tinubu government on the latest attack in Plateau State by bandits.

Trump should take ‘forceful action’ in Nigeria; Tinubu ignoring ongoing Christian genocide: U.S. Lawmaker

President Donald Trump has been called upon to take “forceful action” in Nigeria as U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore accused President Bola Tinubu of folding his hands amid alleged Christian genocide.

“When I visited Nigeria, the government responded swiftly to quell a coup in Benin. Nigeria’s willingness to step in to stop a violent attack in another country, while they stand by as their own Christian citizens are brutalised, makes these absolutely horrific scenes unfolding in Plateau state all the more unconscionable.

“Now, I am asking the Trump administration to take forceful action to defend our innocent brothers and sisters in Christ in the Middle Belt of Nigeria, the epicentre of an ongoing Christian genocide,” stated the American congressman.

Mr Moore, who was among a U.S. fact-finding delegation to Nigeria on alleged Christian genocide last year, made this call reacting to a video in which people said to be gathered for mass burial of victims of an attack were attacked by gunmen at the burial site.

“Christians — who were gathered for a mass burial for those killed in a previous attack — were viciously murdered by radical Islamic terrorists,” Mr Moore said. “The Nigerian government could root out the terrorism and stop the martyrdom of its own citizens. But, despite receiving early warnings of impending attacks, they are nowhere to be found as Christians are murdered for their faith, like lambs led to slaughter.”

Presidential spokespersons Bayo Onanuga and Daniel Bwala did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the allegation.

Mr Moore’s call for the U.S. president to take forceful action to defend Nigerians comes months after Mr Trump ordered the bombing of terrorists in their enclave in Sokoto on December 25, 2025.

Last week, Mr Moore lashed out at Tinubu’s government for splashing multimillion-dollar to lobby the American Congress while failing to address the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
