Samsung Electronics and Google have unveiled a new category of intelligent eyewear powered by artificial intelligence, marking a major push to expand AI experiences beyond smartphones and into wearable devices.
The launch signals a growing industry effort to move artificial intelligence from screens into what technology companies increasingly describe as “ambient” computing experiences, where AI operates in the background and responds naturally to users in real-world environments.
The companies introduced the new AI-powered glasses during Google I/O 2026, showcasing premium eyewear designs developed in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
Designed as a companion device for smartphones, the intelligent eyewear allows users to interact with Google’s Gemini AI through voice commands while remaining hands-free and connected to their mobile devices.

According to Samsung, the device combines its hardware engineering expertise with Google’s AI technologies and the fashion-focused eyewear design capabilities of its partners.
Users will be able to ask Gemini for navigation assistance, receive recommendations such as nearby coffee shops during walks, place pickup orders, summarise incoming messages, and add events to calendars without reaching for their phones.
Samsung says the glasses also support real-time language translation, including audio translations designed to match a speaker’s voice, while text appearing on signs or menus can also be translated directly within the user’s field of view.
The intelligent eyewear will work within Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, enabling users to manage tasks and capture photos while remaining connected to their smartphones.
“This intelligent eyewear marks an important step in Samsung’s vision for AI,” Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, says.
The partnership reflects how technology companies are increasingly turning to fashion brands to improve the appeal and adoption of wearable devices after earlier smart glasses struggled to gain mainstream acceptance.
“With this new AI form factor, we are further expanding the Galaxy device ecosystem, where each device is optimized to deliver unique AI experiences that best fit each form.”
Google also positioned the launch as part of its broader effort to make AI more accessible in everyday life through Android XR and Gemini-powered experiences.
“Intelligent eyewear represents a powerful step forward in our shared vision with Samsung to make AI more helpful and accessible in everyday life,” Shahram Izadi, Vice President and General Manager of Android XR at Google, says.
“Combining the best of Google’s AI and the Android ecosystem together with Samsung’s leadership in mobile hardware and Gentle Monster and Warby Parker’s premium design, we are helping users stay connected and fashionable in a more natural, hands-free way.”

Gentle Monster says its approach focused on combining fashion with advanced technology in a more human-centred design.
“Intelligent eyewear should feel as emotionally expressive as it is technologically advanced,” Hankook Kim, Founder and CEO of Gentle Monster, says.
“Our vision was to merge fashion and technology in a way that feels bold, beautiful and human, bringing Gentle Monster’s disruptive design identity into a new era of intelligent eyewear with Samsung and Google.”
Warby Parker also highlighted comfort and wearability as critical factors in bringing AI-powered eyewear into everyday use.
“Eyewear is deeply personal, which is why every detail matters when integrating advanced technology into frames people wear every day,” Dave Gilboa, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker, says.
“Our Intelligent Eyewear is designed to feel intuitive, combining Warby Parker’s signature design with precision optics and exceptional comfort to help people stay focused on the moments in front of them.”
The announcement places Samsung and Google more directly into the growing AI wearables race, where technology firms are increasingly exploring smart glasses as a possible successor or complement to smartphones.
Industry analysts view the renewed interest in intelligent eyewear as being driven by advances in generative AI, voice interfaces, miniaturised hardware, and improved battery efficiency, developments that were less mature during earlier smart glasses experiments such as Google Glass.
The first collections of the intelligent eyewear are expected to launch this fall in select markets, with Samsung and Google saying additional details will be announced in the coming months.
The OK Movement has said that the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, remains committed to delivering a new direction for Nigeria.
The Movement said this on Tuesday in a post on its verified X handle.
This came after the the meeting between the Vice-presidential candidate and the national leader of the party on Tuesday.
“With both our presidential and vice-presidential candidates duly uploaded, the NDC remains united, focused, and fully committed to delivering a new direction for Nigeria.
“The National Leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, today held a strategic meeting with our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“We are pleased to announce that Kwankwaso has been successfully uploaded to the INEC portal as the duly nominated Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC for the 2027 Presidential Election.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called on Nigerian politicians to desist from politicising everything, including judicial matters, stating that it is not healthy for the nation’s democracy.
Sani made this remark on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.
He was speaking on the recent court judgement on the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Recall that a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register the NDC as a political party.
Reacting, Sani said, “When it favours politicians, they feel the judiciary is the best place to go, when it goes against them, they feel the judiciary is the worst place to go.
“For some of us that believe in democracy and the rule of law, we have to be very careful. Politicizing every issue is not healthy for us, because many actors that are involved in this NDC issue have been beneficiaries of the judiciary.
“Maybe you have to cast your mind back that even the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was also someone that benefited from a very strong judicial pronouncement when he was governor of Anambra state.”
