Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the outspoken Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, has revealed that he has been receiving threats from aides and loyalists of President Bola Tinubu over his advocacy against what he describes as the ongoing Christian genocide in parts of Nigeria.

The cleric made the disclosure in a video widely circulating on social media since Friday. According to him, individuals linked to the Presidential Villa warned him to stop speaking out, accusing him of “demarketing” the country through his activism.

“They are threatening and warning me to stop exposing Tinubu’s government at the global level over the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria by Fulani terrorists. They say they’re watching my every move from Aso Rock,” Rev. Dachomo said.

He claimed that his efforts to counter government denial—including sharing videos of mass graves—have drawn intimidation, with some officials attempting to silence him. He recalled being directly contacted by someone from Aso Rock:

“Somebody from Aso Rock called me and said, ‘Reverend, stop exposing the government, your own government, your country.’ I said, oh, so I’m now exposing my government while they are watching me right on social media,” he said.

Despite the threats, Rev. Dachomo said he refuses to stay silent, emphasizing that government inaction continues to endanger Christians in Nigeria.

“Then I said, what about me? That same government is exposing us to Fulani killings by refusing to stop Fulani herdsmen from attacking us. Are they not exposing us? Their silence is endangering Christians all over Nigeria,” he stated.

The cleric also condemned public denial of targeted killings of Christians, asserting that silence or dismissal by officials will not stop him from highlighting the issue.

He further rejected claims by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi that Christian communities buried empty caskets in mass graves, calling for international verification and accountability.

“I want all relevant officials, including the Minister of Defense, the SSS, and military leadership, to visit the gravesite to verify the truth. God of vengeance will fight for us. Go to my Facebook, and you will see me crying at the grave,” Rev. Dachomo concluded.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has linked the recent surge in insecurity across Nigeria to the build-up to the next elections, expressing confidence that the situation will improve shortly after the polls.

Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in attendance.

He argued that the rising insecurity is being fuelled by political actors who are unsettled by the performance of the current administration.

“Insecurity is increasing because elections are approaching. Some people don’t know what else to do, so they resort to sponsoring it. But shortly after the elections, within two weeks, you will see it decline,” he said.

The Senate President also took a swipe at the opposition, describing it as disorganised, and made a veiled reference to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election. He criticised what he described as the abandonment of electoral support in pursuit of another political platform.

Akpabio urged Nigerians to remain patient with the Tinubu administration, insisting that the government is on the right track.

He also commended the head of the revenue agency, Zacch Adedeji, describing him as a tax administrator widely accepted by Nigerians, despite the traditionally unpopular nature of tax collection.

The event was attended by top government officials, including Vice President-level figures, lawmakers, members of the Federal Executive Council, and several state governors such as Babagana Zulum, Charles Soludo, Caleb Mutfwang, Hope Uzodimma, and Usman Ododo.

The newly commissioned NRS headquarters, described as a state-of-the-art facility, comprises three towers with 16 floors and can accommodate about 3,000 staff.

The development follows the signing of the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act by President Tinubu in June 2025, which formally transformed the Federal Inland Revenue Service into the Nigerian Revenue Service.
