The Plateau State government has confirmed that the recently repaired Jos railway line broke down during a test run—despite spending N600 million on its rehabilitation.
Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Jatau Davou Gyang, revealed this while addressing journalists at the Ministry of Information Conference Hall, J.D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos. He clarified that no levies were collected from individuals and that the entire cost of the rail repair was funded by the government.
Unfortunately, after the experts invited from the railway corporation in Lagos finished their assignment, the Jos railway broke down again during a test run.
The commissioner, who was briefing journalists at the Ministry of Information Conference Hall at the J.D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos, said that the breakdown of the rail does not mean that the experts failed in their job.
The commissioner declined to comment on the cost of the 30 Metro Buses purchased by the state government to cushion the transportation problems of the pedestrians.
Explaining that they were exclusively purchased and paid for by the Governor of Plateau, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, the commissioner disclosed that even the CNG buses promised to all the states have not been delivered.
