Governor Mutfwang Inspects Plateau, Hill Station Hotels as State Targets Tourism Revival

As part of ongoing efforts to reposition Plateau State as a premier destination for leisure, business, and investment, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, embarked on an inspection tour of remodeling works at the historic Plateau Hotel and Hill Station Hotel in Jos, the state capital.

Describing both facilities as “monumental legacy assets,” the Governor emphasized their cultural and economic significance to the state. He expressed satisfaction with the rehabilitation progress and underscored his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the hospitality sector through strategic public-private partnerships.

“A lot of the history of Plateau State is tied to assets like this,” Governor Mutfwang said. “We are optimistic about what these revitalized facilities will mean for tourism, job creation, and the state’s economy.”

At the Plateau Hotel site, the investment partner, Aviare Global Concept Ltd., led by Chairman/CEO Mr. Kudla Satumari, highlighted key features of the redevelopment. These include:

  • A dual carriage access road
  • Extensive landscaping with palm trees
  • A modern control and security center with CCTV surveillance
  • A redesigned perimeter fence to enhance aesthetics and security

The Governor disclosed that a major portion of the Plateau Hotel renovation is expected to be completed and operational by December 1, 2025.

Similarly, during the stop at Hill Station Hotel, the developers—Hillside Hospitality Ltd.—reported that Phase One of the renovation is 45% complete, with the overall project currently at approximately 50% completion.

Ongoing works include:

  • Hotel fencing and gatehouses
  • A modern gym and poolside bar
  • Twin swimming pools and a laundry café
  • Renovation of the main building annex and conference halls
  • Landscaping, mechanical/electrical installations, and CCTV infrastructure
  • Power connectivity through NESCO

The Hill Station Hotel project is being led by Project Manager Arc. Okechukwu Izeogu, Lead Supervisor Arch. Racheal Dawurung, and Project Director Oluwadamilola Awoyomi.

Governor Mutfwang commended the teams for their professionalism, noting that their dedication aligns with his broader vision of restoring Plateau State’s reputation as the Home of Peace and Tourism.

“Our goal is to bring these iconic landmarks back to life—not just as places of lodging, but as symbols of our cultural pride and economic renaissance,” he stated.

Through such strategic revitalization projects, the state government aims to attract local and international tourists, boost investor confidence, and create sustainable employment opportunities across Plateau State.
