The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the defection of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The announcement was made by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, during the party’s ongoing National Caucus Meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Yilwatda, who is also from Plateau State, disclosed that Governor Mutfwang’s defection means that the entire North Central region is now governed by the APC.
Governor Mutfwang was elected on the platform of the PDP in the 2023 general elections and is the latest high-profile political figure to leave the opposition party amid a wave of defections across the country.
Speaking further at the meeting, the APC chairman announced January 30, 2026, as the deadline for all party members to complete their electronic membership registration.
According to him, the electronic registration system, which has already been activated, is aimed at enhancing transparency, data integrity, and internal democracy within the ruling party.
The development marks a significant shift in Plateau State’s political alignment and further strengthens the APC’s dominance in the North Central zone.
