Former House of Representatives member for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, has declared that the internal crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reached a breaking point, warning that remaining in the party is no longer sustainable for Plateau State’s political future.

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Bagos said the persistent leadership tussle at the national level has weakened the PDP to the extent that it can no longer guarantee electoral stability or safeguard the mandates of its candidates.

He said the unresolved dispute between the Turaki-led and Abdullahi-led factions has left the party without a unified national direction.

“A political party that cannot resolve its own leadership cannot defend the mandate of its candidates,” he said. “The truth is clear: leaving the PDP is no longer speculation — it is an imminent and strategic decision.”

Bagos noted that Plateau State had already suffered the consequences of the party’s instability during the 2023 legal battles that led to the removal of several PDP-elected officials. He described the period as one marred by confusion, lack of coordination, and abandonment — all of which he said stemmed from a weak national structure.

“Our people suffered for it. Our political stability suffered. And our collective mandate was exposed due to internal disunity,” he stated. “We cannot afford to take Plateau through that same painful experience again — not in 2027.”

He stressed that the state now requires a political platform that is nationally aligned, disciplined, and capable of defending votes, especially as another crucial election cycle approaches.

“Plateau deserves a platform that is coherent and capable of delivering victory,” Bagos said. “We must align with a structure that offers stability and national presence — not one trapped in endless internal battles.”

Although he did not publicly declare his next political move, Bagos hinted that consultations and realignments were ongoing. He said any decisions would be guided strictly by the need to protect Plateau’s interests and ensure a stronger and more secure mandate for its people.

He further urged PDP leaders to reassess the party’s current condition in the interest of Plateau’s political future.

“For Plateau, for our people, and for the future, a new political direction is not just necessary — it is inevitable,” he said.

Bagos represented Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2019 to November 2023.

“The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, you know that I’m jealous that you are in the PDP, I wish I could corner you and bring you to APC.

“But I’m happy that PDP borrowed you to us in 2023 and I saw your letter then to the National Working Committee of PDP borrowing you to us.
