The striker said suggestions that the players do not care are unfair, stressing that missing football’s biggest tournament has significant consequences for their careers and personal ambitions.

“Missing the World Cup hurt us the most. People may think we don’t care, but we’re the ones living with the disappointment every day,” Adams said.

The Montpellier forward explained that representing Nigeria at the World Cup is a dream shared by every player, adding that failing to qualify is a painful experience for the entire squad.

According to him, the absence from the tournament also affects players’ visibility, career progression and opportunities at the highest level.

“Playing at the World Cup is every footballer’s dream. When you miss that opportunity, it has a huge impact on your career and your confidence,” he added.

Adams urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Super Eagles despite the setback, expressing confidence that the team can bounce back stronger in future competitions.

The 25-year-old maintained that the players remain fully committed to restoring Nigeria’s place among world football’s elite and ensuring the country qualifies for future major tournaments.

ROTN Simi Simji Goshwe has officially assumed office as the new President of the Rotary Club of Naraguta, pledging to sustain the club’s legacy of humanitarian service through impactful community development projects.

The investiture ceremony, held at Crest Hotel, Jos, attracted Rotary members, guests and stakeholders who witnessed the formal handover of leadership and renewed their commitment to the ideals of Rotary International.

Speaking shortly after her inauguration, Goshwe said her administration would remain committed to Rotary’s seven areas of focus, stressing that her priority would be to build on the achievements of past leaders through consistency and service.

“Rotary is very structured and well organised. What I’m going to do is remain consistent in carrying on the projects we need to do,” she said.

She disclosed that her first major project would be the distribution of complete school uniforms, sandals, school bags and learning materials to 50 indigent pupils in public primary schools.

According to her, the initiative is aimed at restoring the children’s confidence and encouraging them to remain in school.

“We want these children who trek barefoot to school and wear tattered uniforms to be clothed and given a sense of confidence and dignity as they prepare for school resumption,” she said.

The Rotary president also appealed to members not to be discouraged by the country’s economic challenges, urging them to continue supporting the club through their time, talents and resources while seeking partnerships with individuals and organisations committed to humanitarian service.

She added that the club had lined up monthly projects covering healthcare, peacebuilding, women empowerment, support for widows, tree planting and capacity-building programmes.

“It is going to be a year packed with activities that will directly impact the people,” Goshwe stated.

Earlier, a pioneer member of the Rotary Club of Naraguta, Alhaji Abdulaziz Haruna, expressed confidence in the new president’s ability to succeed, noting that she had received the necessary Rotary leadership training.

“I’m encouraging her to work hard because previous presidents have worked hard. She has attended the district training seminar, and I have no doubt in my mind that she will perform well,” Haruna said.

Also speaking, Major Donor, Mr. Lucky Aliyu Momoh, congratulated Goshwe on her inauguration and urged her to pursue projects that would positively transform lives and leave a lasting legacy in the communities served by the club.

In the same vein, Dr. Celestina Ogbeh described Goshwe as a proactive and committed leader, expressing confidence that her early preparation and dedication would translate into a successful tenure marked by impactful humanitarian projects.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter has dismissed every suggestion linking it with alliance with other political parties in the State.

The Chairman of the PDP in Abia State, Abraham Amah stated this on Thursday at the PDP State Secretariat, Umuahia, while reacting to questions about a possible alliance involving the party.

Amah, who described the PDP as strong, united and formidable for the 2027 battle in Abia, said anybody issuing statement in proposal or support of an alliance is not speaking for the party.

He maintained that having successfully uploaded the names of its candidates for various elective posts, his party is prepared to go into the 2027 election battle without seeking the support of any other party or donating its platform to any other political party to use.

“As far as we are concerned, as at today, we do not have any agreement with any other political party.

“Am privileged to know what is happening at the party, not only in the State but at the national level. So we do not have any such agreement with anybody,” Amah said.

The Abia PDP Chairman also declared that there is no faction in the State as according the him, all the names of the candidates of the PDP he leads, had already been successfully uploaded on the INEC official portal.

He further said that Abia PDP has taken up the task of reconciling aggrieved primary election aspirants.

Earlier in his speech during a press conference, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike said he would pay N90,000 minimum wage to Abia civil servants if elected the governor.

Anosike, who faulted the Abia State government for its system of salary payment, alleged that the State government is not paying N70,000 salary across board.
