Daniel Asama, the National Assembly member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in Plateau State, has provided over N60 million worth of relief materials to victims of recent attacks and other vulnerable individuals in his constituency.
The relief items, including both food and non-food supplies, were secured through the Commission for Refugees and the Ministry of Agriculture. Asama emphasized that the distribution aims to ease the economic hardships currently faced by many Nigerians.
During the unveiling of the relief distribution in Kwal, Bassa Local Government Area, Asama highlighted the growing distress among his constituents due to the rising cost of living. “My phone rings constantly with calls from people in distress, asking for just enough food to get by. This initiative is about bringing some relief to those most affected, particularly the displaced and vulnerable,” he stated.
The distribution will be carried out in phases, with the initial round providing support to 50 beneficiaries. Asama assured that additional batches would follow, each assisting another group of 50 individuals.
He expressed concern over the ongoing displacement of residents in areas such as Yelwa Zangam and border regions affected by kidnappings. He also noted the significant displacement in the Irigwe Axis of Bassa LGA over the past two years, pledging to reach as many affected individuals as possible.
Asama called on his constituents to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, affirming his commitment to effective representation in the National Assembly. He reassured his constituents that their interests would be well-protected.
Beneficiaries of the relief materials, which included rice, Semovita, cooking oil, school supplies, and more, expressed their gratitude and pledged to use the items wisely.
