The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Wase, Plateau State, has officially started operations, offering vital healthcare services to residents of Wase and nearby states. The facility, established through the efforts of Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly, has been well-received by the local community.
Residents from Plateau and neighboring states like Bauchi, Nasarawa, and Taraba have praised the new facility, which spares them the long and costly trips to distant hospitals. The FMC’s launch follows an MOU signed between Plateau State and the Federal Ministry of Health in August 2024, a collaboration that also included the establishment of the National Orthopedic Hospital in Jos.
Patients have already begun benefiting from the center, with many expressing relief at the availability of quality medical care close to home. Maimuna Mohammad, one of the first patients, shared her gratitude for the FMC, noting that it saved her from a burdensome journey to Bauchi for her child’s treatment.
The facility has quickly become a hub of activity, with doctors and medical staff working tirelessly to meet the needs of the community. Over 100 patients registered on the first day, with 35 pregnant women already receiving care.
The opening of FMC Wase is a significant step forward for healthcare in Plateau State, reflecting Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase’s commitment to improving medical services and supporting the health and well-being of his constituents.
