Gubernatorial Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Ambassador Bagudu Hirse has said that he is a man with a heart for Plateau State.
Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, also a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, made this known when he engaged PDP Delegates in Bassa, Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGAs to seek their support in the forthcoming Gubernatorial Primary Election slated for 23rd May 2022.
He stated that he was moved to step up and contest for Governorship because he was unhappy with the way Plateau State has deteriorated and the way Plateau Citizens are suffering due to insecurity, bad leadership and economic hardship.
He dispelled any opinion going around that he is old and tired, insisting that he was here to follow in the steps of former Governor, Da Jonah Jang, especially his strides in infrastructural development and as one who will govern with the fear of God if given the mandate.
Ambassador Bagudu urged delegates to deliver the PDP with a credible candidate as the burden is now their responsibility. He stated that reliable information has confirmed that the PDP in Plateau state has been infiltrated by some persons who do not mean well for the party even some amongst them are aspirants, as such he enjoined delegates to get it right by bringing worthy candidates that have the interest of the party.
According to him, Plateau State is blessed as the home of tourism which has remained largely untapped, an example is the wildlife park that is wasting away. He said if properly handled it will generate revenue for the state and guarantee the prosperity and growth of tourism in the state.
“I am here to introduce myself to you and to dispel any notion that I am old, I want you to know that I have the qualities needed to change the story of the people of Plateau State for good.”
“I have a well-detailed agenda for Plateau state, which includes my plans for economic development, Agricultural development, youth empowerment, peace and security. It is not about who you take over from but what you can do for the people and it is time for the PDP to take back power. Leadership has nothing to do with age, it lies in someone’s capacity and ideas” he said.
Director-General of the Campaign Organization, a former Northern Zone Party Vice Chairman, Chief Andrew Iza, while introducing the Aspirant described him as a good product with no hiding place with his antecedents well known in Plateau state and beyond.
He urged the Delegates to give him a chance to achieve his vision of a better, greater, safer and more prosperous Plateau.
While responding, the delegates and various leaders of the delegates who spoke, described him as a person who understands PDP and Plateau State as he has been there over the years.
They appreciated his presence and lauded his capacity as an Aspirant with a difference, and prayed to God to grant him his desire.
They urged him not to disappoint the state if given the mandate but to work towards the growth of the State.
Hon. Hitler Joshua Pwajok, Former Senior Special Adviser to Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Barkin Ladi Constituency seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Pwajok, in his declaration statement, said his decision was driven by the challenges facing the constituency, including unemployment, poor healthcare access, bad roads, weak schools, and the struggles of farmers and traders.
While disclosing to his supporters on social media, he said Barkin Ladi deserves leaders who will remain connected to the people and speak boldly on their behalf rather than becoming silent after getting elected.
He said his movement, tagged “Redefining the Future,” is built on the belief that empowering minds and creating opportunities for young people will transform the constituency and restore hope to families.
According to him, his priority areas include creating opportunities for youths, improving support for farmers and traders, upgrading schools and healthcare facilities, and promoting peace and security across communities.
Pwajok also promised to be an accessible representative who would maintain regular contact with the people in villages, churches, mosques, and markets throughout his time in office.
“I am not contesting to enrich myself,” he declared, adding that his ambition is rooted in service, courage, and commitment to the welfare of the people.
The aspirant said he would not rely on money politics but would instead run a people-focused campaign based on honesty, accountability, and grassroots engagement.
He appealed to residents of Barkin Ladi to support his aspiration, stressing that the journey to rebuild the constituency belongs to everyone and not one individual.
Pwajok expressed confidence that with unity and collective determination, the constituency can witness a new era of growth and responsive representation.
He further urged the people to believe in the possibility of change and stand together to create a better future for the next generation.
The declaration has added fresh momentum to political activities in Barkin Ladi as preparations begin ahead of the 2027 elections.
The member representing Pankshin Kanam Kanke constituency, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has said his achievements in office should be the primary basis for judging his leadership, declaring that his record of service speaks for itself as he embarked on his ward-to-ward consultations across his constituency ahead of the APC primary election.
Gagdi made the remark during his recent visits to federal wards, in Pankshin, Kanam and Kanke LGAs, where he met with party members, traditional leaders, and constituents.
Addressing stakeholders in the various wards, the lawmaker said he prefers to rely on his track record rather than make fresh promises, insisting that residents have already seen the impact of his representation.
“My record speaks for me. The people have seen what I have done already. If given another opportunity, I will do even better than what I have done in the last seven years,” he said.
He cited ongoing and completed projects across the constituency, including the modern primary healthcare centre in Gyangyan and community hall projects in several wards, as evidence of his commitment to development.
Gagdi who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, also stressed that leadership must remain rooted in the grassroots, explaining that his consultations were designed to keep him connected to the people who elected him into office.
“This visitation is not even about campaigning. It is about keeping in touch with the people who voted me into office. I do not want to feel too big to relate with the people the way I have always done,” he added.
He urged constituents to reject divisive politics and instead prioritize performance, capacity, and tangible contributions to community development when choosing leaders.
According to him, his interventions have also included educational support programmes, empowerment initiatives, and payment of WAEC, NECO, and JAMB fees for students across the constituency.
Gagdi further assured residents of continued development support in communities such as Dawaki, Nemel, and Kabwir, including planned community hall projects where land has already been secured.
He also pledged neutrality in future local government chairmanship contests, while reaffirming his commitment to peace, unity, and progress in the constituency.
Party leaders across the visited wards commended his developmental efforts and expressed support for his continued representation, calling for unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ward-to-ward consultations, according to him, are part of efforts to strengthen grassroots trust, consolidate support, and maintain close contact with constituents ahead of the party’s primary election.
