PSA-USA Raises Alarm Over ‘Coordinated War of Occupation’ in Plateau, Middle Belt

Group Calls for Immediate Action on Genocidal Violence, Displacement

The Plateau State Association USA (PSA-USA) has issued a strong and urgent statement condemning what it describes as ongoing Christian persecution, genocidal attacks, and a “coordinated war of occupation” across Plateau State and the broader Middle Belt region of Nigeria.

In the statement dated November 19, 2025, the group warned that communities in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Kanam, and other affected areas are experiencing organized killings, systematic displacement, seizure of farmlands, and the deliberate destruction of homes and livelihoods. These acts, the association said, are neither random nor communal but “intentional and coordinated,” aimed at depopulating Christian communities from their ancestral lands.

“This is not communal violence; it is a sustained and ruthless campaign,” said Dr. Barth Shepkong, National President of PSA-USA. “What is happening is genocide, driven by targeted Christian persecution and enforced through a war of occupation. Entire communities are being erased with deliberate precision.”

PSA-USA attributed the worsening crisis to what it called a persistent failure of political will to confront perpetrators and dismantle violent networks. The association warned that silence in the face of mass killings amounts to complicity and argued that peace built on denial or political convenience is both false and unsustainable.

Calls for Action

The association outlined several urgent steps it believes are necessary to halt the violence and protect vulnerable populations. These include:

• Investigation, arrest, and prosecution of all perpetrators and sponsors without political interference.
• Humanitarian relief for internally displaced families.
• Reform of security architecture and establishment of credible community protection mechanisms.
• Reconstruction of destroyed communities and safe return of displaced persons.
• Collaboration with the United States and international partners to strengthen justice mechanisms and expand humanitarian assistance.

Through its R64 Diaspora Campaign Fund, PSA-USA said it continues to support internally displaced persons and assist in rehabilitation efforts across all 17 local government areas and 64 wards of Plateau State.

Reaffirming its stance, the association said it remains committed to justice, human dignity, and accountability.

“We are not appealing for pity. We are demanding justice. We are demanding accountability,” the statement concluded.
