The Plateau North senatorial campaign of Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos gained fresh momentum over the weekend as Turu A and B Wards formally endorsed his candidacy during a rally that drew an unprecedented crowd.

The event builds on earlier endorsements from Chugwi Ward in June and Bagos’ hometown of Vwang in July, consolidating his grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally, attended by indigenes of Turu from across the country and a strong delegation from Riyom LGA, was charged with unity and optimism for a more inclusive Plateau North.

Hon. Dachung Mwanta, Chairman of the Development Association of Turu and convener of the Vwang District movement, urged residents to back Bagos, citing his track record of delivering transformative projects and community programs.

Other speakers, including Hon. Dung Tari, former PDP Chairman of Jos South LGA; Hon. Da Dauda Vwangdung, Chairman of Vwang District Stakeholders; and Hon. Da Daches, stressed the need for continuity, stability, and people-driven development.

From Chugwi to Vwang, Turu to Riyom, stakeholders say the message is clear: Plateau North is rallying behind Bagos.

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke has urged political leaders across the state to work together to move the state forward.

The call came after the 2026 governorship election.

Governor Adeleke made the call while reacting to the peace appeal issued by the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, following his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

The governor described Oyebamiji’s appeal as a welcome development after weeks of intense political activities and tension surrounding the election.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Friday, Adeleke said the people of Osun deserved peace and stability after the election season.

The governor also called on members and supporters of all political parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions capable of undermining peace across the state.

Adeleke said his administration had consistently opposed the use of violence for political purposes, despite the pressures experienced during the campaign and election period.

He said, “I am forever a man of peace. It is heartwarming that my brother, Oyebamiji, is also preaching peace. I assure him that my supporters have not and will not attack APC members.”

According to the governor, “the period of political competition has ended, making cooperation among leaders necessary to ensure effective governance and development across Osun.

“Elections have come and gone, and we are all winners. The common task for us all is to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends and good governance to the good people of Osun State.”

Adeleke invited former governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Oyebamiji and other opposition leaders to participate in efforts aimed at advancing the interests of the state.

He said, “We are all important stakeholders in this Osun project.”

He also reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and encouraged political cooperation after the election.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has called for justice and a thorough investigation into the attack and burning of the family home of one of its members in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Isaiah Thomas.

The party made the demand after visiting the family residence of Thomas at Omuoko, Aluu, on Wednesday, following the early-morning attack.

The incident occurred barely 24 hours after campaigns officially began for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The attackers, who are yet to be identified, allegedly arrived at the family compound in large numbers, armed with guns, and set some buildings on fire.

Thomas’ mother, Uchechi Thomas, alleged that household property was also destroyed during the attack.

She said the attackers appeared to be searching for her son, who had hosted a meeting of ADC members at the family compound on Tuesday.

Speaking during the visit to the scene, the ADC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Gabriel Pidomson, condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable and contrary to the principles of democratic participation.

He urged politicians and their supporters to embrace tolerance and conduct their activities within the law.

The ADC governorship candidate called on security agencies to “carry out a thorough and impartial investigation, identify those responsible and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.”

Pidomson also appealed for calm among residents and ADC supporters, saying political differences should be resolved “through dialogue and lawful means, rather than actions that could endanger lives and property.”

Similarly, the ADC State Chairman, Chukwudi Dimkpa, appealed to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to ensure a comprehensive investigation and justice for those affected.

The ADC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political participation, democratic values and the rule of law, while urging political stakeholders to work towards maintaining peace and security across Rivers State.
