Rock International Film Festival and lets stand for Human Rights in Jos (JOFII) a film initiative that is aim at creating awareness on human rights abuses is now set for a film on the violation of human rights.
JOFII film initiative made this known in a press briefing in Jos the plateau state capital.
According to the organizers Jos is known for entertainment and the film which is a maiden edition is to create awareness on the human rights violations.
Henry Samson Mafulul, the Festival Executive Director and the Festival organizing committee Mr Ezekiel Bok, Rev. Treasure Amber, Ms Janet Faden, Mr Oladele David who are all part of the festival committee have pointed out some significant issues that have to do with human rights and the violation of it.
Rev Amber Treasure the event coordinator said the film is aimed at addressing human rights violations through the film and how to fight it as so many people have been victims of it and most films don’t address it and their coming together for the film is timely which is proposed to be in November 2022.
“The film will be the first of its kind in Nigeria, and the maiden edition will give the people the opportunity to know about their rights.”
Further stating that what inform their decision to go on this film is because of some incidence that has happened in the past without any meaningful development against those whose human rights have been violated, he cited the example of late Manji Ritji who was killed by the security operatives at Zaria road during the lock down in plateau state
“and so many other cases of human rights violations and the film is aim at creating and sensitizing the public on their fundamental human rights and to put a stop to it and that can only helpen if the people know their rights.”
According to the organizers the film festival is going to be pack full with different events and entertainment that will address the issues of human rights violations and the rest, and the Human rights commission and other organizations are partners of the festival as it involves very important aspect of life.
