The National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, has invalidated the election of Dachung Bagos, a two-term member of the House of Representatives representing the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency.
Dachung Bagos was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the February 25 National Assembly poll.
However, the tribunal ruled that Bagos’s election was invalid, declaring the Labour Party candidate, Ajang Alfred, as the rightful winner of the poll.
The tribunal’s decision was based on its determination that the PDP candidate was not validly nominated by his party to contest the election.
This marks the third instance in Plateau State where the tribunal has nullified the elections of PDP candidates, including Senator Napoleon Bali representing Plateau South and Peter Gyengdeng representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.
