Plateau State University Launches Ambitious Beautification Initiative

Plateau State University in Bokkos has embarked on an exciting new chapter with the launch of a groundbreaking campus beautification project. Announced by Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best on October 25, 2024, this initiative aims to enhance the university’s reputation and foster vital partnerships.

According to a statement from the university’s Ag. Public Relations Officer, Masara Kim, the project features significant upgrades, including a striking new entrance sign, a renovated gatehouse, and an impressive revamped Justicia statue at the law faculty’s entrance—now one of the largest in Nigeria.

Prof. Best, who stepped into his role in February, recognized the urgent need for a beautification plan to enhance the university’s corporate identity. “The university is a hub of knowledge and intellectuals, and its physical appearance should reflect that,” he stated, highlighting the importance of a visually appealing campus.

The initiative also includes a mass afforestation effort and thorough weed removal, with plans for further renovations to modernize the university’s entrance. Prof. Best expressed his appreciation for the support from the university’s management and the dedicated efforts of staff in bringing these projects to fruition.

This ambitious beautification effort signals a commitment to not only improve the aesthetic appeal of Plateau State University but also to position it as a leading institution in Nigeria
