The Plateau State police command has apprehended seven suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a market security guard, Mohammad Kabiru, of the Kasuwan Dare Market, a section of the Jos Ultramodern Market, in part of the Jos North local government area of Plateau State.
Kabir was reportedly found slaughtered in the early hours of Sunday at about 2:00 am in a pool of his blood.
One of the management staff of the Market who craved anonymity stated that, “Immediately we discovered the incident, the police were alerted and, after some preliminary investigation, the body was released for burial.”
Chairman of Kasuwan Dare Market, Alhaji Jamilu Kabiru, revealed that the late Kabir was one of the most powerful and trusted, security men in the market.
“I was called by one of my colleagues in the morning on Sunday to see the corpse. It is a very sad and great loss indeed. We have reported the case to the police.”
He said the deceased had worked as a security guard in the market for 15 years and they never had any problem with him.
Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the police made the arrest, adding investigation into the killing has since commenced.
Alabo said “the DPO of the area has started working on the case. Because of the nature of the case, seven suspects have been arrested. The investigation is going on. We are on top of the situation.”
