Today, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication welcomed members of the press to the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing, held at the Information Centre, Ground Floor, JD Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos.
Delivering her address, the Commissioner expressed delight at the gathering, which has become a key feature of the state’s governance and communication strategy since its resumption last year under the Time is Now Administration led by the Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
“This briefing serves as a critical bridge between government and the people,” she remarked, highlighting the administration’s commitment to transparency, public accountability, and open governance.
She noted that this briefings are with the direct approval of Governor Mutfwang, underscoring the administration’s belief that an informed citizenry is the bedrock of democratic progress.
The Commissioner further stated that no government working against the interests of its people would willingly open itself up to scrutiny. However, she affirmed that the Mutfwang-led administration is not only willing but eager to be held accountable.
She went on to highlight some of the key areas where the Ministry of Information and Communication, alongside other ministries and agencies, has made significant strides, including:

– Transport sector reform: Modernisation and reorganisation aimed at improving mobility

– Agricultural transformation: Introduction of modern farming techniques and support systems
– Social welfare enhancement: Strengthening safety nets for vulnerable groups
Despite ongoing challenges, particularly the unprovoked attacks in some communities, the Commissioner assured citizens that the government remains steadfast in its dual mandate: delivering essential services and ensuring peace and security.
