Aliyu Zubairu is on the verge of being appointed as the new technical adviser of Plateau United, with reports indicating that the former El-Kanemi Warriors coach is in advanced talks with the Jos-based club.
Zubairu is expected to take over from Mbwas Mangut, who still has one year remaining on his contract. However, Plateau United management appears set on making a change in the technical leadership ahead of the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Zubairu recently stepped down as head coach of El-Kanemi Warriors after a two-year stint with the Maiduguri club. His departure sparked speculation about his next move, with Plateau United now emerging as his likely destination.
The highly regarded tactician also serves as head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, further boosting his profile as one of the country’s promising young coaches.
Plateau United concluded last season in seventh place on the NPFL table, and the club is reportedly seeking fresh direction as they aim for a stronger campaign.
