Plateau State Hosts Vibrant Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival

The city of Jos, Plateau State, was abuzz with activity on Friday, November 29, 2024, as the Plateau State Interdenominational Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival officially kicked off. Held at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Du, Jos South Local Government Area, the festival brought together a diverse array of worshippers, leaders, and gospel music enthusiasts to celebrate the spirit of unity and the joy of the Christmas season.

The festival saw the attendance of notable dignitaries, including former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon and former President Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo. Their presence underscored the significance of the event as a platform for fostering peace, reconciliation, and spiritual reflection.

The atmosphere was electrified by soul-stirring musical performances from celebrated gospel artists and mass choirs representing various Christian denominations. The event provided a unique blend of worship, praise, and camaraderie, uniting people across religious and cultural divides.

In his keynote address, Gen. Yakubu Gowon expressed profound gratitude to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for spearheading the initiative. He lauded the Governor’s commitment to promoting peace and harmony in Plateau State.

Gowon emphasized the critical role of unity, prayer, and peace—not just within Plateau State but across Nigeria and globally. The Governor expressed his aspiration for the festival to evolve into a unifying tradition that not only strengthens communal bonds but also showcases Plateau State’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

The festival, organized by the Plateau State Government in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), is set to continue throughout the weekend. Each day’s program begins at 3:30 PM, featuring vibrant worship sessions and activities celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
