Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has alleged that recurring insecurity and violent attacks in the state are being orchestrated by desperate politicians seeking to destabilise the region.

Mutfwang made the claim on Tuesday while addressing journalists who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Jos, saying the pattern of violence suggests political sponsorship, especially during election cycles.

He recalled past incidents, including the March 7, 2010 Dogo Nahawa attack, where over 1,000 people were killed, and the March 29 attack in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, which claimed more than 30 lives, noting that such tragedies often coincide with election periods.

“I make bold to say that the insecurity situation in Plateau State is being sponsored by desperate politicians who are out to destabilize the state,” Mutfwang said.

“If you noticed, this violence and attacks always peak during election cycles. What does that tell us? It is a clear indication that it is political; in fact, they are more political than terrorism.”

The governor also referenced recent attacks in Kanam, Wase, and Quan Pan Local Government Areas, which are predominantly Muslim communities, arguing that if the violence were driven by religious extremism, attackers would not target people of the same faith.

“So from our investigations, we have discovered that these attacks are being sponsored by desperate politicians who are bent on destroying Plateau. But we will not allow that to happen,” he added.

Wife of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Titi, has disclosed that her husband will tutor his vice on the art of politics if elected as Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Titi disclosed that Atiku may hand over to his deputy at the end of his tenure if elected president in 2027.

Atiku will be heading into the 2027 presidential election with former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate.

However, in a viral video, Titi described the former vice president as a sellable material who will improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

According to Titi, Nigerians will yearn for him to run for a second term if elected president in 2027.

She said: “Atiku is a sellable material, that’s why I’m so proud of my husband. Atiku is not going to learn on the job and he is not a novice. By the time Atiku gets to the saddle, Nigerians will yearn for him to run for a second term. But he said he would do just one term, but Nigerians will yearn for him to come for a second term.

“Atiku doesn’t want Nigerians’ money, he just wants to give back to the society what the society has done for him because many people keep saying, ‘What is he looking for? Very soon he will be 80,’ but he wants to tutor children on how politics is being made.”

The wife of the ADC’s presidential candidate lamented that Nigeria’s economy is currently in shambles, adding that the country has not operated any budget since 2023 till date.

“Today we have no rule of law, nothing is working, our economy is in shambles. Right from 2023 up to date, there is no budget in Nigeria and I wonder how people are living, I wonder how people are eating.

“By the grace of God, when Atiku comes to the saddle, like I told you, people will yearn that he does a second term. By then, he would have tutored his deputy and maybe the deputy will take over from him,” she added.

Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has accused Benue youths of allowing politicians to use them despite the insecurity in the state.

VDM made the remark during an Instagram Live while speaking about his visit to Benue.

“My only reason for talking about Benue is that most of you are bastards, most of you youths are bastards. Politicians will use you, after election they will still kill you people,” he said.

He warned that people could still lose their lives in Benue, Nasarawa or Jos during the December period, urging youths not to allow politicians to use them for political activities.

VDM also spoke about the incident in Yelwata, claiming there was a military checkpoint close to the area and that soldiers had been ordered not to move.

He further claimed that a police officer intervened when gunmen began shooting, forcing them to flee.

“The person who saved them was a drunk police officer. I heard that when the gunmen came and started shooting, the officer stood his ground and started shooting, and the gunmen ran,” he said.

VDM said his reason for visiting Benue was to make people aware of the situation.

“I went to Benue because I want to bring awareness that people are dying. I go there to show you so the government will know that we know people are dying,” he said.

He ended by warning youths against allowing politicians to use them.

“The purpose for this video is don’t let politicians use you,” he said.
