PANYAM RESIDENTS RECEIVE FREE MEDICAL SERVICES THROUGH DR. DANIEL MESHAK’S OUTREACH

Over 500 residents of Panyam, located in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, benefitted from a free medical outreach organized by Dr. Daniel Meshak, a Consultant Family Physician and Public Health Professional hailing from the district. The program took place on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at LEA Central Primary School, Panyam.

This humanitarian initiative aimed to address critical healthcare needs in the community, with a particular focus on the elderly, women, and children—groups often underserved in accessing medical services. Dr. Meshak’s vision for the outreach was fueled by his passion for community development and selfless service.

Dr. Meshak mobilized a dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers to deliver a range of healthcare services at no cost to the beneficiaries. Highlighting the philosophy behind his efforts, Dr. Meshak cited Wayne Muller: “As we serve others, we work on ourselves; every act of genuine compassion nourishes our hearts.” He added that serving humanity is essential for creating a meaningful and impactful legacy.

The outreach attracted key figures, including Chief Dr. Moses Nwan, Executive Private Secretary to the Plateau State Governor, and the traditional council of Panyam, led by District Head Da. Engr. Aminu Derwam. They commended Dr. Meshak’s generosity and his vision to improve community health, describing the initiative as transformative.

Participants in the program expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to receive quality medical care. Mr Pede Filibus Santana, one of the beneficiaries, shared how the initiative allowed him and his wife to check their health status. “We wouldn’t have accessed such services easily. This has been life-changing for us,” he said.

Similarly, Mrs. Persis Samuel from Larkas Village shared her joy after receiving free eyeglasses following an eye examination. “This outreach has been a blessing to me and many others. May God bless the organizers for their kindness,” she said, reflecting the sentiments of many others who benefited.

The outreach offered an array of free medical services, including:

  • Eye examinations and free distribution of eyeglasses
  • Vital signs monitoring, such as blood pressure checks
  • X-rays and consultations with medical doctors
  • Free medications
  • Screenings for surgeries planned for next year

The program’s success in attending to over 500 patients underscored its significant impact on the health and well-being of the community.

Through this initiative, Dr. Meshak and his team not only addressed urgent healthcare needs but also inspired others to embrace the spirit of selfless service. The people of Panyam continue to celebrate this noble gesture, offering prayers and blessings for Dr. Meshak and his team for their unwavering dedication to bringing healthcare closer to the community.

The outreach stands as a testament to the power of community-driven solutions in addressing public health challenges and improving lives.
