Jos Family Christmas Festival 2025 Unveiled with Grand Vision, Expanded Activities

In a lively unveiling ceremony held in Jos on Thursday, organizers of the 3rd edition of the Jos Family Christmas Festival officially launched preparations for what promises to be the most dynamic and far-reaching edition yet. The event gathered top government officials, tourism stakeholders, creatives, private investors, and media partners in a collective push to make Plateau State a premier holiday destination this December.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, highlighted the state’s strategic focus on tourism as a catalyst for economic growth, underscoring the role of early planning and collaborative efforts between government and the private sector.

“This unveiling is a critical step in building a homegrown festival that reflects the spirit and potential of Plateau. We’re deliberately starting early, engaging corporate bodies, community stakeholders, and tourism operators to co-create something big,” Pwajok said.

He further disclosed that the festival aligns with broader plans to designate December as Plateau’s official tourism month, adding that major upgrades at key attractions like the Hill Station Hotel, Plateau Hotel, and Jos Wildlife Park are already underway through public-private partnerships, with significant portions scheduled for completion before the festivities.

“We are building confidence in the sector, and the enthusiasm from investors shows we’re on the right path,” he affirmed.

Rume Ogane, CEO of Ecosystems Africa and lead consultant for the festival, unveiled an ambitious lineup for this year’s edition. Among the expanded attractions are the return of the popular Hot Air Balloon experience, a new city-wide Christmas float parade, and strengthened partnerships with local creatives, media houses, and event professionals.

“We are consolidating on past gains, expanding our programming, and creating more ownership among Plateau citizens. This is not just a festival—it’s an economic opportunity,” Ogane stated.

He announced that the parade will feature four themed bands—Governor’s Band, Tourism Band, Local Government Band, and the House of Assembly Band—each symbolizing different pillars of Plateau society.

The unveiling also revealed strategic efforts to attract both national and international tourists. Ogane noted that talks are in progress to host the National Association of Tour Operators’ annual conference in Jos, positioning the city as a key destination for travel enthusiasts and stakeholders.

Local government leaders present also expressed their support. Hon. John Kyoro Christopher of Jos North LGA and Hon. Patrick Silas Dung of Jos South LGA both spoke on the importance of the festival in reshaping public perception of Plateau.

“Despite security challenges in some rural communities, events like this showcase our resilience. We weep, we rise, and we celebrate. This is how we show the world that Plateau is peaceful and full of life,” said Hon. Kyoro.

“When people visit and see the hospitality, beauty, and cultural wealth here, they take a different story back home. That’s what this festival is about—telling our own story,” Hon. Dung added.

As preparations gain momentum, organizers say the coming months will see broad stakeholder engagements, media activations, and a detailed rollout of programs—all aimed at positioning Jos as Nigeria’s top holiday destination by December 2025.
