Berom Nations Cup BESDA 768x768

The maiden edition of the Berom Nation’s Cup has received a financial boost following a monetary donation from Hon. Chundung Kele and Coach Bros of Aminchi Football Club to support the Berom Sports Development Association (BESDA) in organizing a successful tournament.

The Berom Nation’s Cup, initiated by BESDA, is a novel sports development program aimed at engaging youth, curbing social vices, and empowering them with skills for self-sufficiency. The tournament is expected to create opportunities for young talents within the Berom community while fostering unity through sports to preach peace to all participants across the fourteen Beromland districts.

Despite the financial boost, one of the lead organizers, Geoffrey Bottson, has emphasized the urgent need for more support to ensure that the competition meets the required standards.

“WE ENCOURAGE THE BEROM NATION TO SUPPORT THE BEROM NATION’S CUP WITH THEIR RESOURCES. SOME TEAMS HAVE HAD TO FORFEIT MATCHES DUE TO LACK OF TRANSPORT FARE, AND OTHERS ARE STRUGGLING TO MEET TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR THEIR GAMES. ADDITIONALLY, FUNDS ARE NEEDED TO SUCCESSFULLY HOST THE FINALS,” BOTTSON STATED.

With challenges such as teams facing transportation difficulties and budget constraints for the tournament’s grand finale, organizers are calling on spirited individuals, corporate bodies, and community stakeholders to contribute towards the success of the event.

The Berom Nation’s Cup is expected to unite communities, inspire young athletes, and set the foundation for a strong sporting culture in the region. The organizers remain hopeful that with additional support, the tournament will achieve its full potential and positively impact the lives of young people in Plateau State.

Plateau United delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season, thrashing high-flying Ikorodu City 4–1 in a dominant NPFL encounter to strengthen their position on the table.

The Peace Boys showed intent from the start and maintained control throughout the game, with second-half substitute Ossy Martins emerging as the standout performer after grabbing a brace to seal the emphatic victory.

The result marks a significant boost for Plateau United, who have struggled for consistency this season. Defeating a top-performing side like Ikorodu City not only restores confidence within the squad but also signals their determination to finish the campaign strongly.

Beyond the scoreline, the win could prove pivotal in their push away from the lower half of the table, easing pressure on the team while reigniting belief among supporters.

Attention now shifts to their next fixture, where Plateau United will be aiming to build on this momentum and secure another positive result as the league season approaches its final stages.
