Emmanuel Dashe, age 26, has been sentenced to one month’s imprisonment by an Area Court in Jos on Wednesday for stealing a decorative drape from the Plateau government guest house.
The judge, Mr. Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to theft and begged the court for leniency.
The judge gave the convict an option of an N10,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo-Jos police station on Dec. 5, 2022, by Insp. Onuh Onoja is attached to the guest house.
The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to having committed the act.
The offence, he said, contravened the Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
