In a recent statement, Senator Jonah David Jang, former governor of Plateau State, asserted that the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Plateau State lacks a proper structure, in contrast to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Jang claimed that the APC failed to conduct an election for its state executive committee, and the party’s nominee for the 2023 gubernatorial election was allegedly handpicked by the then Governor Simon Lalong, without due process.
Speaking during a meeting in Jos on Tuesday, Senator Jang, alongside former House of Representatives member Musa Bagos, decried the Appeal Court’s rulings that led to the removal of elected PDP members from both the National and State Assembly. Jang deemed these rulings as miscarriages of justice and expressed his belief that only God could handle such matters.
Jang specifically called for consequences for former Governor Simon Lalong, accusing him of imposing the current APC party chairman on the state party, thereby undermining its organizational structure.
Senator Jonah Jang also expressed his belief in divine intervention regarding the nullification of Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s election by the Appeal Court on November 19. The court cited a lack of structure in the Plateau chapter of the PDP, under which Governor Mutfwang contested and won the election.
Jang, the leader of the PDP in Plateau, assured the people that the Supreme Court would review the appellate court judgment, leading to the reinstatement of the winners of the affected seats. He denounced the alleged injustice and emphasized that the party remained united with a common front.
Musa Bagos, who was recently removed from House of Representatives for the Jos East/Jos South federal constituency by the court of appeal, embarked on a thank-you tour to express gratitude to his constituents for their support during the last general election. Despite court rulings against him, Bagos encouraged the people to remain calm and trust in God, expressing confidence that justice would prevail.
Bagos, who visited various districts in Jos South Local Government Area, remained steadfast in his commitment to positively impact the lives of Plateau and Nigerian leaders despite the challenges. He urged his constituents to maintain faith and trust in God as they navigate the current political landscape.
