The Plateau State Governor-elect, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has approved the constitution of a Transition Committee which would be inaugurated on Tuesday in Jos.

However, the Governor-elect will before the inauguration, formally dissolve the State PDP Campaign Council which was chaired by Mr. Letep Dabang.

A statement issued on Monday in Jos by the Director, Directorate of Media and Publicity, Atiku-Okowa/Mutfwang-Piyo Campaign Council, Plateau State, Yiljap Abraham stated, “The Governor-elect after due consultation, has approved the constitution of a Transition Committee.

“The Governor-elect will therefore inaugurate the Committee on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Eliel Centre, by 10 am. The constitution and inauguration of the Transition Committee mark a very critical point in the overall preparation of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang to assume leadership of Plateau State on May 29, 2023, at his inauguration.

“But just before he inaugurates the Transition Committee, the Governor-elect will formally dissolve the Plateau State PDP Campaign Council. The Council, chaired by Chief Letep Dabang is made up of over 200 members from across the state who had served in 19 Directorates.

“Both events will be witnessed by PDP officials, Campaign Council members and party enthusiasts from all over the State.”

Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, senatorial aspirant for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Aisha Yesufu, has told the national leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, that it seems he is fighting a war no one is waging against him.

Yesufu said this in a lengthy post on her verified X handle on Thursday, in response to Dickson’s interview on Wednesday night.

She said the interview was so painfully appalling to watch, adding that he ought to pacify aggrieved members instead of using hurtful words on them.

Dickson, in the interview, said because Yesufu is popular on social media and well-known, she may not want to play by the rules.

Reacting to the interview, Yesufu said, “It seems as if you are fighting a war no one is waging with you.

“You rather ended up antagonising the very people you would need to win election. Every vote counts! A leader must stoop to conquer!

“Your first one-on-one interview after primaries and instead of selling your candidates and giving confidence to people on how set the road to winning the 2027 election was, you made it about yourself.

“With all due respect sir, it looks as if you consider the NDC a Special Purpose Vehicle whose aim has been achieved just by being registered instead of a Political Party whose aim is to win the 2027 General election decisively. The registration of NDC should be a means to an end and not an end in itself.”

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a driver, Olatunde Ayila, 47, to one year in prison for stealing 10 cartons of milk.

The convict, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him.

The magistrate, Hannatu Ashom, sentenced Mr Ayila to one year in the correctional centre with an option of a N70,000 fine.

Ms Ashom also ordered Mr Ayila to restitute the N310,000 as compensation and, if he defaulted, to spend five additional months in the correctional centre.

While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on May 5 at the “A” Division Police Station, Jos, by the complainant, Ugochukwu Uoani.

Mr Gokwat said that the convict was given N1,550,000 to buy 50 cartons of Dano milk but kept N310,000, which he used for his personal use.

He said the offences contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
