Mob Burns House, Vehicles in Plateau Over Suspected Kidnapping, Two Children Found Dead

An enraged mob razed a building and several vehicles belonging to a suspected kidnapper following the discovery of missing children in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the Dankarang community of Kuru district, which was thrown into mourning after two of the three missing children were found dead in a vehicle belonging to a local resident. The third child found alive but in a weak state, is believed to have been kidnapped alongside the others on Sunday, April 27.

The victims—two boys and one girl, Enoch, Diamond and Rose all aged between three and five—were reported missing after attending a church service in Dankarang. Their photos were widely circulated on social media with a contact number for information.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect, who alleged he was returning from a trip, informed his neighbors and contacted the police after discovering the missing children inside his parked vehicle within his compound. Two were already dead, while one was still alive.

Despite his actions, an angry mob attacked the suspect, beating him severely before he was rescued by police officers. The mob then set fire to his house and burned five vehicles parked in the compound.

Tragically, the mob also killed a woman who identified herself as the suspect’s sister and was said to work at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) in Vom.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the families of the missing children were contacted for ransom prior to the tragic discovery.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Nigeria Police, and investigations are ongoing.
