In the wake of the recent nullification of the election of all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the House of Representatives in Plateau State, former representative Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos commenced a Thank You Tour on Monday, December 4th, 2023. This tour is aimed at expressing gratitude to the constituents of the Jos South, Jos East federal constituency for their unwavering support during the challenging times surrounding the court judgment.
Hon. Musa Bagos conveyed his appreciation for the overwhelming support received despite the hurdles posed by the recent legal developments. He assured the people of his continuous commitment, emphasizing that the mandate bestowed upon him is not merely about the office but a manifestation of the trust reposed in him by the constituents.
During the tour, Hon. Bagos reiterated the belief that the mandate given to him remains intact, highlighting that trust in God will sustain it. He emphasized that the strength of public representatives lies not in the office they hold but in their dedication to serving the people.
“It is not the office that makes us, we make the office, and on our own capacity, we will continue to do what we need to do for the people. I want to urge you to remain calm and continue to put your trust in God because in God we Trust,” Bagos affirmed.
The high point of the Thank You Tour included the commissioning of solar-powered street lights and visits to communities in Vwang District and Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area. Hon. Bagos paid homage to traditional institutions, including The Gwom Rwey of Vwang District, Da Gyang Gutter Balak, The Da Gwom Turu, Da Ezekiel James Dalyop, and the Da Gwom Kuru.
Throughout the visits, Traditional Rulers acknowledged the unfortunate incident that led to the nullification of the people’s mandate. They regarded it as a lesson that should make Hon. Bagos stronger and emphasized the need for unity. The Traditional Rulers also commended Bagos for his continuous efforts despite the temporary setback, recognizing his commitment to serving the community.
