The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Jos & District Society, has honoured the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, PhD, FCA, for his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the district.
The recognition took place during the society’s Dinner and Award Night held at the Joshua Dariye Hall, Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos, which attracted ICAN members, their spouses, and other distinguished guests in a celebratory atmosphere marked by unity and thanksgiving.
In his opening remarks, the 26th Chairman of ICAN Jos & District Society, PAM Musa Chung, FCA, described the occasion as one set aside primarily for gratitude rather than lengthy speeches. He thanked God for His faithfulness and reflected on the district’s journey since its last dinner in 2019, noting significant milestones recorded over the years.
According to him, the society has made remarkable progress, including the acquisition of a district office, improved engagement with government authorities, strengthened financial stability, and the successful hosting of several professional and social events. He added that the district’s growing influence at zonal and national levels, as well as members’ increasing participation in public service and political leadership, underscores the rising relevance of the Jos District.
Chung further described the large turnout at the event as a clear demonstration of unity, commitment, and shared purpose among members of the society.

Dr. Wayas was honoured in recognition of his consistent support for ICAN, professional excellence, and dedication to the institute’s core values. A seasoned chartered accountant with over a decade of experience across the public and private sectors, he is widely known for his expertise in financial accounting, auditing, taxation, risk-based audits, and financial reporting, with strong proficiency in IFRS and IPSAS.
He holds a PhD in Accounting from Nile University of Nigeria and is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, United States. Dr. Wayas is a Fellow of ICAN and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom.
As Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Wayas has implemented far-reaching reforms that have resulted in a historic 96 per cent increase in the state’s internally generated revenue within two years. His leadership style is defined by innovation, transparency, and sustainability, while his contributions also extend to academia, mentorship, and research.
