Fresh Attack: Eleven villagers burnt to death by terrorists in Plateau state

Eleven persons have been burnt to death by terrorists who attacked Chisu village in Mangu Local Government of Plateau State on Tuesday night.

The villagers had fled to a house for safety after hearing gunshots in the middle of the night. The terrorists however chased them to their hiding place which they set ablaze.

A resident of the Chisu community who escaped the attack, Michael Bulus told Punch that the terrorists also burnt a church along Mangu-Bokkos Road and other properties before making their escape.

He said;

“Last night, terrorists attacked Chisu village of Mangu Local government at about 11:00 pm.

“When the terrorists arrived in the community, there were sporadic gunshots, and the people started running. Some of them ran to a house belonging to a community leader. Unfortunately, the house was set ablaze by the terrorists, and 11 burnt-dead bodies were later discovered this morning (Wednesday).

“The COCIN Regional  Church Council Bwai along Mangu Bokkos road in the local government was also burnt by the terrorists along with other  houses, vehicles, and tricycles before they fled the community.”

2027: I’ll stop campaigning if anyone can prove I took Labour Party’s donations — Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said that he would stop campaigning if anyone can prove be took 1% of Labour Party donation.

Obi made the vow on Tuesday during  an exclusive interview on Nevon Media hosted by Oseni Rufai.

He was reacting to an allegation that he and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, siphoned Labour Party’s donations for the 2023 general elections.

“I don’t go by people talking nonsensical and listen to them. He said that we took from Labor Party’s account 10 billion naira or $30 million. Where is the account?

“I’m going to include every accuser very soon in the list of the people I want to come out and prove that I took money from the Labour Party’s account or any financial mismanagement allegation.

“Look, if anyone can prove that I took 1% of Labour Party’s donations, I will stop campaigning,” Obi said.

Gunmen kill five miners in fresh Plateau attack

Gunmen on Tuesday reportedly killed five miners at a mining site in Gero village, Gyel District of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.

In a statement to the Peoples Gazette, Rwang Tengwong, the spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), said the incident occurred hours after gunmen attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in the village.

“This latest attack comes hours after terrorists attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, resulting in the death of three security personnel,” Mr Tengwong said.

According to the BYM spokesperson, the attacked village is located about five kilometres away from the NIPSS.

“This underscores the alarming deterioration of security within the area and raises serious concerns about the safety of residents and critical national institutions,” he said.

Alfred Alabo, the state police spokesperson, was not available for comment.

WhatsApp and SMS messages sent to him remained unanswered as of press time.

This comes barely an hour after Plateau State police said gunmen had killed three security agents at NIPSS in Kuru.
