Ahead of the 2027 general elections, chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, has threatened to resist residents who intend to vote against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a video clip circulating on social media, Shekwolo said he would not allow anyone in the council to work against the APC or oppose President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The chairman cited the developmental projects of President Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike in the area council as reasons residents should support the ruling party.

He vowed to use his office to resist opposition to the APC during the 2027 elections.

According to him, “I have said in my area council that it’s either you are for the APC or you leave the area council. I am not arguing about it at all.

“You know why? I cannot have the Minister and the President doing what they are doing, then on the day of the election, you will now say you want to match me. I will not agree.

“It’s either you are with us or you are against us.”

Former Kogi West lawmaker, Dino Melaye has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is too desperate by appointing the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, Zacch Adedeji, as Deputy Director of Fundraising for his 2027 presidential campaign.

Melaye, who had said he would challenge the appointment in court, stated this in an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday.

According to him, the appointment of the NRS chairman is a consequential matter confirmed by the Senate, stressing that Adedeji must adhere to extant laws and public service rules.

“Zacch Adedeji cannot be the chairman of the NRS and, at the same time, be a fundraiser for the presidential campaign of a sitting President.

“There is a conflict of interest, and we want to test it in a court of law to show and expose the desperation of the APC and President Bola Tinubu.

“The ‘I don’t care’ attitude of the President and that of the APC is very ridiculous and unacceptable. Nigeria is not a banana republic, and this is now giving us an indication that it is the reason Adedeji was even appointed chairman in the first place.

“The intention of the President is to appoint him as chairman of the NRS so that he can then provide funds for his re-election. Not only that, even the Group Managing Director of the NNPC’s name is also there. This is just laughable.

“These people are not serious. These people are corrupt. These people are desperate. There was a country. They’ve turned this country completely upside down. But we will not allow it.

“And I know because I cried out, in a quick turnaround, I heard that the President has suspended the list, pretending, lying and deceiving Nigerians that there are some names missing from the list. We know it is because of our outcry,” Melaye said.
