The Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria has charged Nigerians to vote for the candidates of their choice during the 2027 general elections.

The monarchs, who met in Umuahia on Friday, also advised Nigerians to accept the eventual winners of the 2027 elections in the interest of peace and security.

Addressing the press after the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of the Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Eze Oliver Ohanwe, said there was an important need for the electorate to vote for the candidates of their choice in 2027.

He maintained that votes for the president, governors and legislative positions should be cast for people with credible records and achievements, not on sentiment and political party considerations.

The traditional rulers who said that the association wants peace, development and security in Igboland and other parts of Nigeria, urged voters to support the eventual winners of elections in their states, and to avoid acts of violence.

Also speaking, the host of the meeting, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, said the monarchs were taking steps to prevent killings and insecurity in the South-East and other parts of the country.

Eze Ofoegbu said that prayers organized by the group in 2025 contributed to the relative peace in parts of the South-East.

"We are praying for life and security, we are praying against death and insecurity in our land and that is why we want the best to emerge," Eze Ofoegbu said.

The Bank of Industry (BOI) said it will expand financing for agriculture, local healthcare manufacturing and digital businesses in 2027.

The bank stated this as it seeks to consolidate the gains of its 2025–2027 corporate strategy and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial development.

The bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Olasupo Olusi, disclosed the plan on Thursday at a meeting in Lagos, where he outlined the bank’s priorities for the final year of the strategy.

Mr Olusi said BOI would work with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on the National Industrial Finance Compact to attract more long-term capital into Nigeria’s industrial sector.

He also said the bank would deploy its new European Investment Bank facilities to agriculture and local healthcare manufacturing to increase domestic production of food and medicines.

The funding includes €85 million secured from the European Investment Bank for agriculture and another €50 million for healthcare manufacturing in 2026, as part of more than €2.2 billion in new funding the bank has secured for Nigerian industry since 2024.

“We will deploy our new European Investment Bank facilities into agriculture and local healthcare manufacturing, so that Nigeria produces more of the food and medicines it consumes,” he said.

The bank also plans to expand its information and communications technology (ICT) and digital economy portfolio through the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) programme.

Mr Olusi said the initiatives formed part of the bank’s efforts to consolidate its achievements and meet the targets of its 2025–2027 corporate strategy.

“2027 is the final year of our strategy, and our task is to consolidate and meet every target we set,” the BOI boss, Mr Olusi, said.

BOI said it disbursed N644.9 billion in 2025, reaching 12,501 businesses and supporting 1.68 million jobs.

Daytona Platforms announced on Friday that it had raised a $60 million Series B round at a $1 billion valuation led by FirstMark Growth. The company says it has now raised a total of $91 million.

The New York-based startup has attracted not just FirstMark (which also led its $24 million Series A in February), but also a host of well-known angels in this latest round. Daytona says they include Stripe’s Patrick Collison, Shopify’s Tobi Lütke, Perplexity’s Aravind Srinivas, Zoom’s Eric Yuan, Datadog’s Olivier Pomel, Quora’s Adam D’Angelo (who is also an OpenAI board member), and Mercor’s Brendan Foody. It also names Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next, and Okta Ventures as participants.

Three-year-old Daytona is building a cloud specifically for long-running agents, which have different infrastructure needs than yesteryear’s software, the startup contends. “Agents don’t work like the long-lived services today’s cloud was designed for. They spin up thousands of short, stateful jobs nobody planned in advance, and they need a cloud built for that,” founder Ivan Burazin wrote in a blog post announcing the new round. Daytona’s cloud, he said, is like giving every agent its own computer, where agents have access to sandboxed versions of Linux, Windows, macOS, and GPUs, among other services, on the one platform.
