Another Plateau village head killed by gunmen, abduct five family members

Suspected gunmen have again struck in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing the village head of the Nyalun community, Salisu Idris.

Newsmen gathered that two other residents were also killed during the attack, which occurred on Monday night 17th October 2022.

Residents said the victims were killed after the gunmen arrived on motorcycles.

According to them, the attackers invaded the village around 9.30 pm and abducted five members of the community, including two women.

A youth leader in Wase, Shapi’i Sambo, said, “The attackers came in their numbers and started shooting sporadically.

“They went straight to the traditional ruler’s house, killed him, and abducted five members of his family.

“The gunmen also made away with a good number of motorcycles belonging to the people of the community.”

The spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident, adding that security operatives had begun an investigation.
