The 3 Division Nigerian Army has declared open the 2025 Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition, an annual training exercise designed to boost operational capacity, teamwork, and professionalism across its formations.
The opening ceremony, held at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, drew wide participation from paramilitary agencies, government officials, and traditional rulers, underscoring broad support for the Army’s training drive.
Speaking at the event, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General E.F. Oyinlola, described the competition as a milestone in the Army’s quest for combat readiness and operational excellence. He noted that the exercise goes beyond testing physical endurance, serving as a structured platform to sharpen tactical proficiency, leadership, and adaptability in addressing evolving security challenges.
The GOC commended commanders, organizers, and participants for their commitment, urging them to compete with discipline, integrity, and respect for the Army’s core values of loyalty, courage, and selfless service.
In his welcome address, Commander 3 Division Garrison, Brigadier General A. Aminu, thanked the GOC, distinguished guests, royal fathers, and security agencies for their presence. He emphasized that training remains central to the Division’s operations, noting that the competition is designed to enhance competence, agility, and joint operational effectiveness. He also lauded Army leadership for prioritizing training and charged participants to uphold professionalism and esprit de corps throughout the exercise.
The event featured an oath-taking session by brigade commanders and participants, signifying their commitment to fair play and professionalism.
With the competition formally declared open, participating brigades immediately commenced drills and tactical exercises, setting the stage for days of rigorous training and healthy rivalry aimed at further strengthening the Army’s preparedness to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty.
