The Plateau State government has introduced an online registration system for business premises to regulate and track commercial activities across the state.
Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Mohammed Salihu Nyalun, announced the initiative during a stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting in Jos, describing it as a “significant turning point” toward a more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven commercial ecosystem.
Nyalun said the new portal, developed in collaboration with the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, will replace the decades-old manual process. It offers secure access, step-by-step guidance, online payment, and real-time application tracking, with benefits including a comprehensive business database, reduced revenue leakages, and improved ease of doing business.
“This transformation is not simply about digitizing a form; it’s about empowering businesses and building investor confidence,” he said, adding that the registration is compulsory for all business owners and backed by law for strict enforcement.
He assured stakeholders of training, support materials, and customer service to ensure a smooth transition, urging participants to share feedback for the system’s success.
