Hon. Dachung Bagos Visits Attacked Bassa Communities, Calls for Unity and End to Killings

Bassa, Plateau State – April 20, 2025

Former House of Representatives member for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, has paid a condolence visit to communities recently attacked in Kwall District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, where over 50 people were killed in a brutal overnight assault.

Hon. Bagos first visited the palace of His Royal Highness, Rev. Ronku Aka (Rtd), the Bra Nggwe Rigwe and Acting President of the Bassa Traditional Council, where he expressed deep sorrow over the massacre. He described the attacks as unacceptable and called for an end to the bloodshed that continues to plague the Plateau.

“Enough of the mourning and killings. Every single life on the Plateau matters. We must unite and support Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who has shown genuine commitment to ending this violence,” Bagos stated.

The former lawmaker proceeded to the heart of the affected area, where he was received by the District Head of Kwall, HRH Halabity Dodo, and community leader Luka Miri, JP. Also present was Hon. Musa Agah, former representative of Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency.

Bagos condemned the unprovoked massacre of innocent villagers, many of whom were killed in their sleep, and emphasized the constitutional right of citizens to defend themselves against terror and external aggression. He reassured the traditional leaders and residents that they were not alone, urging vigilance and continued prayers.

The royal fathers commended Hon. Bagos for his compassion and courage in standing with the people during this period of grief, describing his visit as a show of true leadership. They echoed his call for unity among Plateau people to collectively resist further attacks by external aggressors.

Hon. Bagos was accompanied by several notable figures, including Hon. Peter Gyengdeng, former representative for Barkin Ladi/Riyom Constituency, Da Dung Dalyop, Hon. Ishaku Maren (Yobo), Liaison Officer for Bokkos Constituency, and Hon. Ibrahim Agbalak, Liaison Officer for Rukuba/Irigwe Constituency.

The visit concluded with a solemn prayer session for the healing of the land, the protection of its people, and comfort for grieving families.
